“Consistency and faithfulness are some of the most important qualities that one can cultivate in life, but they are also often highly underrated and undervalued. In our modern media culture, we tend as a society to acknowledge and reward flashiness and flame,  and ignore and disregard people who quietly but consistently and reliably perform their daily work and fulfill their daily responsibilities for the betterment of society and the benefit of those in their care and charge.

The “flavor of the month” tends to get much more “air time” than the one who “takes care of business” day in and day out, month in and month out, year in and year out. People who labor in the trenches very rarely become famous, but if they do their work and live their lives in the Name of the Lord, they bring much glory to God, and will be richly rewarded in heaven, and in their earthly lives, as well, although not necessarily in ways that the world system might notice or recognize.

Are you a person who faithfully discharges your duties and responsibilities “as unto the Lord”? (Colossians 3:23-24) Don’t think for a minute that God doesn’t notice or care or value what you are doing. “...your Father Who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly”. (Matthew 6:4 NKJV) “...know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV) As Curtis Mayfield sang, “... keep on keeping on.”

And as my former pastor, Paul Bonn, of Abundant Life Church in Peoria, Illinois, always used to write and say, “Be encouraged in the Lord.” “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.” (Psalms 126:5 NIV)”
